Celestron 9.25" EdgeHD Aplanatic Schmidt-Cassegrain (with Optec Lepus 0.62x Focal Reducer)
MOUNT: Celestron CGEM Computerized Mount
PROCESSING:
Preprocessed, aligned, rotated, and stacked with Nebulosity 2.  Further processing done with Adobe Photoshop CS3.
COMMENTS:
Not the prettiest image of M51 ever taken, but I wanted to capture Supernova 2011dh (pointed out with the arrow above).  The supernova was spotted about 5 days before this image was taken. It's a Type 2 supernova, which is caused by the explosion of a single massive star.
